1. Agreement to terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Turf mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Turf is operated by its developer ("we," "us," "our"). Contact information is provided at the end of this document.

2. Description of service

Turf is a context-aware lawn care companion application that provides personalized lawn care guidance based on environmental conditions, your lawn profile, and your location. The App delivers task recommendations, timing guidance, seasonal planning, and condition-based insights.

Turf is an informational tool. It is not a substitute for professional landscaping advice, agronomic consultation, or local extension service guidance.

3. Beta program

Turf is currently in beta. By participating in the beta program, you acknowledge that:

  • The App is under active development and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features.
  • Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice.
  • The App may experience downtime or interruptions.
  • Data collected during the beta period may be used to improve the product.
  • We may end the beta program or your access to it at any time.

Your feedback during the beta period is valuable and appreciated but is provided voluntarily. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you submit may be used by us without restriction or compensation.

4. Account and registration

To use Turf, you must create an account through our authentication provider (Supabase, using Google or Apple sign-in). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information during onboarding and to update it if it changes.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Turf.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its systems.
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the App.
  • Misrepresent your identity or provide false information.

6. Intellectual property

All content, design, code, graphics, trademarks, and other materials in the App are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.

The lawn care guidance, task content, and companion text generated by the App are provided for your personal, non-commercial use only.

7. Third-party services

Turf uses third-party services to deliver its functionality, including but not limited to:

  • Authentication: Supabase (Google and Apple sign-in)
  • Weather and environmental data: Open-Meteo API
  • AI text generation: Anthropic API (Claude)
  • Analytics: PostHog
  • Crash reporting: Sentry
  • Mapping: Mapbox

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Specifically:

  • Lawn care guidance is informational only. Results will vary based on your specific lawn conditions, climate, soil, products used, and execution. We do not guarantee any particular lawn care outcome.
  • Environmental data has inherent limitations. Soil temperature data is modeled, not measured at your property. Weather forecasts are estimates. Timing recommendations are based on best available data but may not perfectly match your local conditions.
  • AI-generated content may contain errors. Portions of the App use artificial intelligence to generate personalized text. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content should be evaluated with judgment.
  • Product recommendations are general guidance. When the App suggests lawn care products, these are general recommendations based on task type and care tier. Always read and follow product labels. We are not affiliated with any product manufacturer unless explicitly stated.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

This limitation applies to any damage to your lawn, property, plants, or landscaping that may result from following guidance provided by the App.

10. Account deletion and data

You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. Upon account deletion:

  • Your account and associated lawn profile data will be permanently deleted.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data that cannot be linked back to you may be retained for product improvement purposes.

11. Modifications to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Intellectual Property) will survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts located in Utah.
